I lead our vibrant Taku Wairua Kura Team as we aim to inspire as many young people across the Waikato. I’m dedicated to the mahi but also love a good laugh. Outside of work I enjoy whanau time & sports when not nursing an injury.

Fabian - Kura Manager

Hey I’m Ryleigh. I have always wanted to work with children and jumped at the chance when offered the opportunity as an Assist Facilitator at Taku Wairua. I attended Hamilton Girls High School and learnt many values that relate a lot with the Taku Wairua programme. In my spare time I enjoy listening to music and hanging with friends.

Kia Ora! Ko Tamehana teenei, just your friendly neighbourhood Maaori boy.

Born and raised in the centre of the universe, Ngaaruawaahia.
I am passionate about being creative, making music and designing and I enjoy spending time with my mates and my whanau.
My favourite food is hangi so if you have any, don't tell me.

I’m excited to be in this role, leading to inspire rangatahi
to be proud and true in their identity.

The Four Pillars

Belonging

Tamariki explore their whakapapa and pepeha, building a strong sense of identity and connection to the places and people they come from. Through this process, they begin to understand that they are part of something much bigger - their whānau, hapū, iwi, and whenua. By learning where they come from, they start to stand taller in who they are today.

Self Discovery

Tamariki gain greater self-awareness by identifying their strengths, values, and the words that describe who they are today. They reflect on what makes them unique, explore their personality through different tools and build confidence in expressing themselves. This pillar helps tamariki recognise their potential and see themselves through a positive lens.

Goal Setting

Tamariki learn the value of setting goals - not just dreaming big, but also learning how to take the steps to get there. They explore the importance of planning, staying motivated, and overcoming challenges along the way. By the end of this pillar, students understand that their future is something they can shape with intention, courage, and consistency.

Citizenship

Students discover the power of kindness, giving, and volunteering - and how even small actions can make a big impact. They explore what it means to be a good citizen and how they can contribute meaningfully to their class, school, and wider community. This pou nurtures empathy, leadership, and a sense of collective responsibility.
